This year, the show is being curated by Rolo Castillo and is only the second show in the newly remodeled space. The show opens February 9, 2008 from 6pm to 9pm and continues through February 23. If you are in the area, stop by and check it out…

An Afternoon In Herriman

Me in Herriman
This was taken by my friend and brilliant photographer, Jeff Holmes on a trip to Utah to visit him and his family. He was showing me around Herriman (about 20 mins. outside of Salt Lake) and we stopped at the farm of his father in law to shoot a few photos. This brief session yielded Jeff’s incredible shot “Herriman Gothic“. His process and use of color and tone is really stunning…check out his stuff.

New Piece – Backbone II

Backbone II
I’ve just finished a new piece, called Backbone II. It’s the second piece in a series I am doing as an homage, of sorts, to the American worker. This particular piece is also a nod to my family history. My father, his brothers, my grandfather and great grandfather were all railroad men.

Letting Go

Father Bill in his studio
I recently brought some of my new pieces to the home/studio of my friend Father Bill Moore to get some feedback on content and direction. While we were talking, I asked him if he ever has a hard time letting go of his work. His answer, as always, was simple and spot on. He said letting the work go, whether selling it or giving it as a gift, is the last part of the journey in creating it. The idea that someone will see and experience a particular piece that resonates with them enough to want to bring that piece, and by extension a piece of the artist, into their lives is why we do what we do. It’s about connecting…connecting to color, to form, to texture or perhaps to something wholly indescribable.
